Highlights of these events were the following:

Having 4 out of 5 competitors win Gold Medals for the weapons’ divisions. Treshaun did such an amazing weapons kata. Every judge in Treshaun’s division was captivated by his performance…they couldn’t believe their eyes!

Camauri did an amazing job in the weapons’ division as well. I was looking at the judges faces and Renshi Mike Eggleston was grinning from ear to ear. He definitely enjoyed Camauri’s performance.

There was a sensei in the audience trying to find out which kata were my students doing. He went as far as to google it…good luck jack. You won’t find it in google or cyber space or the black net…that is my own personal weapon’s kata.

The Golden Child does it again “Alaina Spears” cruised through these championships winning nothing but Gold!

Camauri McPherson took control of the ring and did the performance of his life winning in the Forms division. All three judges voted unanimously for Camauri to win the Gold!

Teress Dobie: Choked on the forms division and I was not happy and I was not happy with her…I let her have it. I think she got the message because when it came to the sparring match she unleashed on Araina. Teress was way ahead on points. Therefore, I told Teress “to just dance around and to take it easy.” Well Araina was not having it. She came back with a fury and tied the score. The match went over time and Teress did a heck of a round kick on Araina’s face and that was that!

Treshaun Whittaker: Was another one that choked on the forms division. And yes, I unleashed on him too. However, when it came time for the sparring match he took control of the ring and won the Gold!

Brian Lemus: AKA “Little Brian.” This was Little Brian’s first official AAU tournament. When it came to the forms division Little Brian had it under control. I went to him and he looked me straight in the eyes and said “I know what I doing…I got this.” Well, when it was all over he won the Gold Medal. His mom was in tears…Little Brian was in tears. They both embraced and I forgot to take a pic!

Sydnee Brown: First let me say that I train every student according to their rank. Therefore, Sydnee Brown is in the white belt division so I taught her a “Kata” according to her division. Well, every competitor in Sydnee’s division was wearing a white belt but doing a “blue belt kata.” Needless to say Sydnee placed 4th place. When it came time for the sparring matches Sydnee could of won easily. However, she does not listen well to instructions and she got disqualified for hitting on the face too many times. She won 3rd place…she got the bronze.

Friday evening my students got a treat by meeting my old Sensei “Hanshi Doug Perry.” Hanshi Perry was my Sensei for 15 years. Every promotion, in Karate, from 3rd Degree Black Belt through 7th Degree, Kyoshi Rank, was awarded to me by Hansi Perry. In Weapons he promoted me to 4th Degree Black Belt and 5th Degree Black Belt...many moons ago. I was very happy to see him again. We got together for about two hours and talked for a long time. Afterward he met Treshaun, Little Brian and Breyona and he spoke to them for about an hour. Breyona was even sitting on his lap…and yes, I forgot to take a pic again!

This is the very reason why these kids and their parents are working very hard to raise money. These tournaments with the travel expenses are very costly. So please help these children…with the proper guidance and your support our Dojo Students can easily become Olympic Champions!

We traveled to NC won 10 Gold Medals, 1 Silver, 5 bronze…Nothing but the Best Baby!

***Next Tournament, Sunday 4/8 at Big Bethel High School, Hampton, VA.
