Highlights of this event were the following:

Having ALL 4 girls winning 1st Place in kata and all qualifying to compete for the Grand Championship! We are definitely putting up a show with our Goju-Ryu and weapon skills! The kids were excited as well as the parents.

Teress, Alaina and Kururunfa:

Teress and Alaina, both sisters, had just learned kururunfa only a few weeks ago. But I felt pretty confident, that both would do well, that I let them perform it. The judges and spectators were just amazed at both of their performances. I kept hearing people say “Hey, look at these girls you need to watch them.”

Teress, won the biggest trophy ever! She became the “All female Grand-Champion.” It was a close competition because she won by only 1/10 of a point…but she pulled it off and also received a $50.00 cash award!

Alaina Spears: Seen this young girl perform is like listening to a great melody from the 3 Tenors…nothing but the very best! She sure wowed the judges.

Sydnee Brown: This young lady meant nothing but business. Sydnee was so focus on her kata performance and so determine, to win, that she blew her competition away. Sydnee Brown, walked away winning first place in the kata division and the sparring division…Go Sydnee…Go!

Breyona Whittaker: This young lady was the last one to compete in her group and she was nothing but AWESOME! From her first step of execution she had the judges hypnotized. Those three judges did not dare to blink in fear of missing out. That’s how awesome of a performance Breyona put on at this tournament!

From “The Mid-Atlantic All Female Karate Open” we came out with 7 First Place Trophies plus the “Grand-Championship Win!” The reason we do so well is because Goju-Ryu is our secret weapon and everyone trains hard at it.

**All 4 ladies: Teress Dobie, Alaina Spears, Sydnee Brown and Breyona Whittaker qualified to compete for the Grand-Championship and we won it!
